You Had Better Start Reading, or…

There will be no Turkish Delight for you after dinner

Summer is a great time for many activities you don’t have time for during the school year. You can spend extra time outside, enjoy time with your friends, and play as much as you want. Often times, there actually seems to be too much free time and you can find yourself with nothing to do. Before you head back to school in the next few weeks, you may be looking for an activity to fill some of that free time. The best way to stop this summer boredom, is with one of the greatest summer activities ever: reading a book. Summer reading is one of the most enjoyable pursuits on those long, hot, summer days.

One of the best worlds to explore in your summer reading is the land of Narnia, an imaginary world created by C. S. Lewis. In these books you can pass through a clothes closet into a new world, meet creatures who will make you laugh and cry, sail across the ocean to visit new lands, and sample the wonders of Turkish delight. Not only will you get to share all the adventures happening in Narnia, you will get to discover the message of the books. You get to see that God is in control in Narnia, just as He is in control in our world too.

So put the rest of your summer to good use. Leave the video games and television for when you can’t go outside this winter. Find a good spot in the back yard or at the park and read—it’s the best summer activity you can find.
