Reformed Singles Conference 2001 was held Memorial Day weekend at Sycamore Reformed Presbyterian Church in Kokomo, Ind. This year’s conference could have been called an international conference, with singles coming from Canada as well as the United States.

Twenty singles attended, and it was exciting to have some from the United Reformed Church. the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Church of America. and the Free Church of Scotland helping to fulfill our hope of reaching out to singles of other Re formed churches. The purpose of the Reformed Singles Conference is to pro vide a setting where Reformed singles who are in the same place in life can get to know each other and encourage each other by studying God’s Word.

The conference speaker was Dave Long, pastor of the Lafayette, Ind., RPC. He spoke on the theme of “Living for a Glorious God” and used passages from Exodus. During the teaching sessions of the weekend, Pastor Long talked about seeing God’s glory in creation, of robbing God of His glory, of coming into the presence of God’s glory, and of glorifying God in the singles’ lives. Many ex pressed their enjoyment of and benefit from the messages.

On Sabbath the singles attended wor ship with Sycamore RPC. where Pastor Barry York preached on the fourth com mandment as part of his series from Deuteronomy. The singles spent the af ternoon in time alone with God reflect ing on what they had learned from the messages. That night Pastor Long led the group in a wrap-up discussion that was followed by a psalm sing.

The Reformed Singles Conference in cluded times of fun and fellowship. It began on Friday night with games led by Sam and Denise Morrow. On Saturday afternoon, after a rain delay, the singles went to Highland Park to see Kokomo’s famous steer and stump. They also spent time walking, playing Frisbee, and visit ing. That evening everyone was treated to dinner at Country Cook Inn, a local lodge-style restaurant set in the country.

On Monday, the singles joined once again with the congregation for a Memo rial Day picnic at Huston Park with great food, recreation, and fellowship. The congregation plans to hold the third annual conference over Memorial Day weekend 2002.
