H. P. McCracken, pastor
In July, Al Watt had surgery to remove a tumor-like growth from his right shoulder. We are thankful his surgery was successful. Also in July, David Tacey was hospitalized for a serious abdominal condition that required surgery. A sudden infection slowed his healing but in August he began rehabilitation. His strength improved, and he was allowed to go home. On Sept. 8 we were blessed that he joined us in worship along with his mother, Phyllis Tacey, and his sister, Marjorie.
Our apologies for an error in the July/August issue in our Around the Church news. Mark and Debra Goerner have 7 children.
We officially welcomed Sarah Klein into our fellowship on Sunday, Aug. 11. Rev. Rodney King was guest minister on Sunday, Aug. 25, preaching from Matthew 6:19–21. Retired from the pastorate in Roanoke, Va., he and his wife, Anna, moved to Winter Garden, Fla., and worship at Lake Sherwood OPC.
In September, Ray Turmenne was hospitalized for an infection resulting from an injury to his left foot. Unfortunately, his orthopedic surgeon had to amputate his leg below the knee. From the hospital, he entered an in-patient nursing rehabilitation facility. The deacons and others built a temporary wheelchair ramp into his home. He will receive in-home care and will eventually be fitted for a prosthetic limb.
A Tasting Tour Event took place Friday, Sept. 20. Similar to a progressive dinner, this involved three hosting homes and a four-course meal with an international theme.
