In our walk through life, we often do good deeds because we love God and love people. But some people will not understand why we do these things. Some will even make fun of us or will persecute us in other ways. Read First Peter 3:13-18 in the New King James Version of the Bible. List some good things in the Christian life. List the things that can happen through persecution. At times God allows persecution in our lives. We might not always understand why, or we might not know why until much later.
We are challenged in this passage to “be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you.” The hope talked about here is the hope you have in Jesus, who alone can save you from sin. Who might, or has already, asked you why you have hope in Jesus? Have you ever asked someone that question? How will you reply in the future?
