Silo

Second Place in Poetry in the RP Witness Creative Arts Contest

  —Jacquelin Spear | | Issue: July/August 2022

Pigeon pullets

on the rim

of the dim

echo shaft

indubitably

indubitably

eye speckled shells

on the edge

of the ledge

in silo high

indubitably

indubitably

I climb the walls

fermented air

precarious stair,

rung by rung

indubitably

indubitably

Tiny windmills

fields of oats

all God’s world lies

intersected east to west

for pigeon view,

the quarry laced by apple bloom,

the pasture clover strewn.

imperturbably

imperturbably

His pigeons stare

from rainbow necks

at rainbow skies,

no surprise

to pigeon eyes.
