The Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary (RPTS) in Pittsburgh, Pa., will host its 4th annual “Westminster Confession into the 21st Century: An International Conference on the Work of the Westminster Assembly” on June 29-30. Scholars from three continents will address current issues relating to the theology and influence of the Westminster Confession of Faith, the major summary confession of beliefs for most Reformed and Presbyterian churches.
This year’s event will feature the release of a festschrift in honor of Dr. Wayne Spear, RPTS professor emeritus of systematic theology, who retired in 2005 after 35 years of service. The book, entitled The Faith Once Delivered: Celebrating the Legacy of Reformed Systematic Theology and the Westminster Assembly, Essays in Honor of Dr. Wayne Spear, is slated for release by P&R Publishing in June following the conference, where copies will first be made available. Speakers will lecture from their respective articles among 10 collected in the book.
Speakers are Dr. Richard Gaffin, professor of biblical and systematic theology at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pa.; Dr. Richard C. Gamble, professor of systematic theology at RPTS; Dr. David McKay, professor of systematic theology, ethics, and apologetics at Reformed Theological College, Belfast, N. Ireland; Dr. D. G. Hart, director for Partnered Projects of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, Wilmington, Del.; Rev. C. J. Williams, professor of Old Testament studies at RPTS; Dr. Rowland S. Ward, minister of Knox Presbyterian Church, Melbourne, Australia; and Pastor Anthony T. Selvaggio, J.D., pastor of College Hill (Beaver Falls, Pa.) RPC.
Cost of the conference is $50, and $40 for those who register by Apr. 16. The optional Friday dinner is an additional $8. The first 25 registrants will receive a free copy of the festschrift. To register, call 412-731-8690 or 1-866-778-733 8, or online at: www.westminsterconference.org
