In May 2006, Eric Filson, a member of Second (Indianapolis, Ind.) RPC, had a vision to produce a quality film that would resonate truth in the hearts and minds of viewers. This summer his film, The Broken Road, will be released.

The story is a down-to-earth portrayal of a troubled young man, Miles Rodden, with no sense of direction in life. The death of his younger brother causes him to embark on a life-changing journey back to a faith he once knew.

Filson teamed up with experienced cinematographer Guy Camara, who owns a local production company (Studio Veritas) and a film production company (Kingdom Pictures). Together they assembled a team of individuals to help with the production and filming of the movie. Over 100 individuals, ranging from 8 years of age to adult, came together to assist in the production of this movie, some coming from as far as Pennsylvania and Arizona.

This was largely a Hoosier project, with a majority of the scenes being filmed throughout the back roads and small towns of central Indiana. During filming, the crew went from gas stations in little towns to the top of a mountain in Colorado.

Many hope that independent films like The Broken Road will help change the entertainment industry for Christ. Filson believes it is important for Christians to be involved in the media. “Christians have the opportunity now more than ever to tell stories that are honest and encourage people to see the world from a biblical perspective. As Christians, our calling in the arts is to plant seeds of truth.” For more information on The Broken Road, please visit www.thebrokenroadmovie.com.
