When family and friends visit their loved ones at the Reformed Presbyterian Home, they tend to find their way to the heart of the Home, the Chapel. It could be for worship, celebrations of life, an activity put on by staff and volunteers, or for a time of reflection and meditation on God’s Word. And, like everyone’s heart, the Chapel needs a checkup on occasion to assure it is beating strong.
In 2022, during the 125th anniversary celebration of the ministry of the RP Home, a campaign was launched to raise funds for a long-overdue renovation of the Chapel, located in the 1957 wing of the building. God has blessed the Home with generous donations and grant funding procured by the staff, allowing the renovation to begin in the summer.
Renovations will ensure that the Chapel remains an important and accessible space where residents and their families can enjoy each other’s company in pleasant, comfortable surroundings. Regular visitors to the Home will notice the improvements to the heating and cooling systems, as well as lighting and sound technology. Upgrades to the elevator entrance and restroom facilities will provide easier access for those with limited mobility.
The ministry of the RP Home began in 1897 for the purpose of caring for people without family or the financial resources to care for themselves. The need for such a facility remains great even 127 years later. The renovation will continue the Home’s tradition of providing a supportive living environment that centers on the spiritual and social well-being of our residents.
An event to dedicate the Chapel and unveil the updated heart of the Home is being planned for late October or early November. Our prayer is that you will join us in thanking God for supplying the needs of our residents in this way.
