New Site for Fellowship for Reformed/Presbyterian Singles

—Caleb Nelson | Features, Christian Living | March 30, 2018

Recently an online platform was created for Reformed/Presbyterian singles to meet: the NAPARC Singles Facebook group. Only adult, single NAPARC (North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council) members in good standing can join the group.

Layman Jerry Bressler of Greenville, S.C., founded the group. Bressler founded a similar group three years ago for Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) members, but he has created this new one to reach a larger audience. Unlike OPC Singles, NAPARC Singles requires church membership but does not ask for references from the applicant’s pastor.

Bressler’s goal is personal: he hopes to meet someone. But his vision extends well beyond himself. Many smaller congregations seem to have lopsided ratios of single men to single women. Bressler believes that by making the pool of potential spouses a bit larger, the internet can increase fellowship by providing a godly environment for single adults in Reformed denominations to meet and build God-blessed relationships.

For those who see this like a new Christian Mingle or Match.com, Bressler clarifies: “This is not a dating site, nor do we encourage dating. We simply provide an environment for God-blessed fellowship between single adults in the NAPARC churches.”

Members do not fill out profiles, and the group makes no effort to match people. Dating is not a requirement; the group leaves a healthy space for God’s providence to work. So far, over 100 people have joined.
