Eastvale RPC

Location: Eastvale, Pa.

*Presbytery: *Alleghenies

Organization date: Jan. 1886

Membership: 34 communicant; 10 baptized

Pastor: Micah Ramsey

Origin

The Eastvale RPC began with a Sabbath school held in the borough’s old school house. Originally, the work was under the direction of the Geneva RP Church. Meetings to organize the Sabbath school were held in Jan. 1886. Teaching and preaching began in 1889.

Recent History

The pulpit in Eastvale was vacant from Aug. 2001 to Aug. 2007. The congregation retained its commitment to the God who called them. They also remained committed to one another, to evangelism in the Eastvale community, and to the Reformed principles of worship. Most recently, Rev. Ed Robson, professor emeritus of the RP Seminary, provided consistency in the pulpit as an interim pastor. He also provided direction for the congregation. In the summer of 2006, the congregation welcomed Micah Ramsey. Between his middle and senior year at RPTS, he interned with the congregation. He and his family lived in the parsonage. Micah was installed as pastor on Aug. 31, 2007.

Ministry

The congregation is continuing with its vision to reach the community of Eastvale with the good news of Jesus Christ. This past fall, Treasure Diggers, Eastvale’s weekly afterschool program, united with the College Hill (Beaver Falls, Pa.) RP Church’s Frontier Club. The result has been the blessing of God as the new group utilizes the facilities and deep community ties of Eastvale as well as the planning structure and young vitality of the College Hill congregation. This fall, they were blessed to minister to 80 children from Eastvale, downtown Beaver Falls, College Hill, and beyond.

Eastvale RPC has assisted the borough’s struggling fire department in recent months. The church is finding seeds there, planted by its outreach programs more than a decade ago. Eastvale is also planning to aggressively canvass the community on a monthly basis, distributing God’s truth. Every house will be invited to an investigative Bible study based on the denomination’s vows of membership. Onsite childcare will be offered for the studies.

Prayer Requests * Pray for the upcoming evangelism efforts in the community. * Pray for the opportunities to disciple future leaders.
