I am a fan of the Reformed Presbyterian Witness and enjoy receiving your magazine. I greatly appreciate your labors in the Lord.

I am troubled, however, by the prominent platform given in your recent (Feb. 2002) issue to Alan Keyes, a well-known Roman Catholic. It is true that the text of speech addresses pro-life, not doctrinal, issues. However, your magazine represents the RPCNA, not a pro-life parachurch ministry. The RPCNA should not give a public voice to a prominent Roman Catholic leader, even if he is speaking about an issue that we too are deeply concerned about. If the Pope were to speak at Geneva College on pro-life issues, should the RPCNA give him a respectable outlet to the Reformed community? I think not.

Alan Keyes is no doubt a gifted man with eloquent and articulate oratorical skills, and I pray both that much good would come from his pro-life advocacy and that his heart might be converted from a vain hope in rosaries to a living hope in Jesus Christ. But the Reformed Presbyterian Witness should not give him a platform while he is merely pro-life and not pro-gospel.
