Deaths
Blair, Eleanor, age 94, on Oct. 21. Eleanor was born Aug. 15, 1919. She attended Olive Branch School and graduated from Clarinda High School in 1937. She was married to Claude Leroy Blair. A lifetime member of the Clarinda RP Church, she was very active, serving over 50 years as a deacon. In addition to working as a cook at South Page School, she held many Bible studies and volunteered in numerous community activities. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude, in May 1986; brother, Melvin; and sister Norma White. She is survived by her daughter, Deloris Strong (Roger) of Clarinda; two granddaughters, Deborah Jean Walker and Diann Sue Beaver; sister Madelyn (Woods) Adams of Darlington, Pa.; nephews Mel Adams of Huntsville, Ala., Renwick (Norma) Adams of Clarinda, Iowa, Jon Adams (Kathy) of State College, Pa., and Joel Adams (Barb) of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and nieces Natalie White Austin of Moon Township, Pa., and Stephanie White of Beaver Falls, Pa. Fountain, Dorothea, age 84, on Feb. 20. The funeral service was held Feb. 24 and officiated by Pastor Joel Wood. Dorothea is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Dean, as well as four children, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. (Sterling, Kan., RPC)
Jarrard, Dorothy Jean, age 72, on Apr. 6. Services were held Apr. 9 with Pastor Greg Stiner and Pastor Dan Drost officiating. Dorothy was born Feb. 7, 1942, in Ainsworth, Iowa. She was a homemaker, assisted her husband with the family farm, and worked as a hairdresser. She was an active member of the Washington RPC, taught Sunday school, held Bible studies, and was a precentor. She is survived by husband, Gaylen Jarrard, of Washington, Iowa; daughter Glenda (John) Lehmberg of Lawrenceville, Ga.; sons Robert (Dorcas) Jarrard and Patrick Jarrard of Washington, Iowa; six grandchildren; brother, Don (Judy) Wilson, and sister Karen (Gary) Todd of Columbus Junction; and sister Janice (John) Skubal of Ainsworth.
Kacir, Mary G. Babel, age 91, on Feb. 3. Pastor Micah Ramsey officiated at the funeral service Feb. 6 at the Hill and Kunselman Funeral Home. Mary is survived by daughter Mary Louise (Jerry) Richeal; daughter-in-law Gerri Babel; stepdaughter Barbara (James) Urchuk; stepson Chuck Kacir; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
