American Covenanters in Britain

18 site seekers visit Ireland and Scotland

From July 21–Aug. 12, eighteen Americans invaded the RP Church’s historic homeland for three weeks of history and fellowship.

During the first week, we were pampered in homestays in Northen Ireland. We worshiped with various RP churches, and our hosts took us sightseeing and made us feel at home.

The next week we sailed to Scotland, where we worshiped with the Airdrie RP Church and toured historic Covenanter martyr sites in St. Andrews, Edinburgh, Ayr, and Wigtown. We attended Scottish Highland Games in Killin, where we got our first real taste of Scottish weather. During the tour, we were challenged to live for Christ as the martyrs did.

For week three, we headed back to Ireland for the Irish International Conference at Termonfechin. There we were joined by about 250 members of the RPC of Ireland, 8 members of the Japan Presbytery, and other North Americans including the conference speaker Rich Ganz and his wife Nancy. We enjoyed more fellowship and were challenged to find our “Identity in Christ.”
