This is a thank-you note. We do send out specific thank-you notes during the year, but when we really take mental inventory of who has supported our ministry, we give thanks to God for all of you. Everyone reading this has had a part in the success of this magazine, and many of you have supported us in multiple ways.
You’ve supported us as a reader, and as a subscriber. Many of you have at one time or another volunteered your services in contributing news or articles to the Witness. Perhaps you’ve written a letter to the editor or filled out a reader survey. Some have sent donations and tucked in a comment. Others have promoted the value of the Witness to other members in their church, or have sent a gift subscription to a friend or relative.
We’re a small ministry, so we read each piece of correspondence we receive, and we know of your service. This magazine is built on your service. Without the participation of hundreds of people each year, the Witness would not be a valuable means of informing and helping to unite the denomination across miles and even across countries and continents.
What else are we thankful for as we review 2005? We were able to give readers a full-color magazine without increasing costs. We’ve made the content more congregation-focused and have included more first-person articles. But at the same time we’ve brought more theological meat to the magazine at a time when other denominations are shying away from it.
Our publication ministry extends well beyond the magazine, and we’re thankful for progress we’ve seen. Early last year, for example, we were able to provide 2,000 psalters to a congregation in Singapore. Recently we sent hundreds of Reformed Bible studies to that same congregation. We continue to see God’s book of Psalms used more and more in song throughout the world.
We’re thankful, too, that other ministries and missions have seen success. And we’re thankful that a key way of funding those things, Reformed Presbyterian Mission & Ministry (RPM&M), reached its 2005 funding goal. We believe this is a key fund because it is overseen by the teaching and ruling elders of our denomination. Because it was fully funded this year, all the ministries and missions of the church (including ours) will receive what those elders thought they should receive through RPM&M toward meeting their needs.
As you can see, there are many ways that we give thanks for you. We can supply only a fraction of what is needed to put together and distribute this magazine. You have faithfully supplied the rest. Thank you.
We look forward to all that we can do together, all that God may choose to do through us, in 2006. Keep contributing your news and comments, and keep tacking on those brief sentences about what you appreciate, or would like to change, about the magazine. We’ll continue to read everything you have to say, and we’ll continue to be thankful for you. This denomination and this readership are precious to us.
