Our Church

Rose Point Reformed Presbyterian Church is a country church preaching the good news of the gospel to the world. This small part of Christ’s bride began in 1834, and since that time we have enjoyed the blessing of God’s providence. Fourteen pastors have served us over the years. Our current pastor is Robert Schmidtberger, who has been here for 11 years. We have five ruling elders. This summer Rev. Ralph Joseph retired from the Selma, Ala., RPC and moved to Slippery Rock, Pa. He ministers to the college students along with Robbie Schmidtberger.

We minister to the communities of Rose Point, New Castle, Portersville, Ellwood City, and Slippery Rock. Some members travel from an even greater distance. The Lord is blessing us with seeing people join the congregation, and in November we received three new members. Others have expressed interest and are in Bible studies to learn more about what we believe.

We enjoy fellowshiping and celebrating life with each other.

Our Ministries

We are involved with organizations such as the New Castle City Rescue Mission, a local pregnancy care center, and Portersville Christian School. We sponsor a college ministry to Grove City College and Slippery Rock University students. Rut Etheridge, a senior at RPTS, leads our Monday evening Bible study at Grove City College. We have been blessed over the past year to have many students worship regularly with us who come from various backgrounds.

This fall, we hosted and taught classes on church history to the homeschooling community, with future plans to have a class on Reformed theology. Every Sabbath morning, sermons are broadcast over a New Castle radio station. During the summer months, youth from the church and the community meet together once a week for a fun activity and a short message. We have just started The Point, a monthly publication, edited by Rev. Joseph, which is a short devotional for the edification of the congregation.

Prayer Requests

• Pray for this region, that the truth of the Scriptures will go forth and the message of repentance faithfully and fruitfully preached.

• People have come to us through several ministries. Please pray that they would continue to be effective.

Geronimo!

One of Rose Point’s members who passed away a few years ago knew Geronimo, an Indian leader from the late 19th Century.
