Necessary Food

A page for kids

Memory: “I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have esteemed the Words of His mouth more than my necessary food.” —Job 23:12

Job set a wonderful example for us to follow. Ask yourself, “What if today I don’t bother to have cereal and milk, a sandwich or even a glass of juice? I won’t eat all day.” Would that really happen? Of course not! You would feel thirsty, weak, sleepy, and cranky without food and water. We all agree that food is necessary for us to live.

So is our spiritual food. As Christians we can’t stay spiritually healthy without spending time with God every day. We do that by reading in the Bible, praying for God to help us when we are tempted, asking for forgiveness, being more obedient and thankful to God, and helping people. Through His Word, God makes all of this possible.

Follow Job’s pattern, be consistent in your walk with the Lord. God our Father will never disappoint us!

*Prayer:

Heavenly Father, please give me love and wisdom to value your words that direct my life, and make me ready for eternity with You. Thank You for providing me with food every day.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen*
