Dear Detective in Training,

Your last case was very difficult. You found out that your soul is a special, invisible gift from God. Only human beings have souls. We need to protect our souls from the temptation to sin and should follow Jesus, who gives us eternal life.

Today, I have a question about promises. My friend told me that she would bring me a gift back from her vacation to California, but she didn’t. My friend broke her promise. She lied. God makes lots of promises in the Bible. Some of His promises are called covenants, or agreements between two or more people. Does God lie, or does He keep His covenants?

Solve case #7 by using your tool, finding evidence, and asking questions to solve the problem: DOES GOD KEEP HIS PROMISES? Write back to report your findings!

Keep sleuthing, Special Investigator Becca

crack the case

Ask Questions

  1. What are some examples of covenants? Find out what God said to Noah in Genesis 9:8-17 and what God said to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3.
  2. What BIG promise did God make? Look up Genesis 3:15 (God to Eve), 2 Samuel 7:16 (God to David), and Isaiah 7:14 (God to Isaiah).

Use Your Tool

  1. The Bible talks about God keeping His covenants. Read Deuteronomy 7:9, Genesis 21:2, Acts 3:25, and Titus 1:2.
  2. As you read the Bible, think about the promises He is making to you in His Word. Here is one: Nothing can separate you from God’s love (Romans 3:37).

Could you solve our 7th problem or case? Write us back and tell us what you found out!

activity: rainbow promises

Whenever I see a rainbow in the sky, I like to think of the covenant God made with Noah. This craft will help you remember your favorite promises from God. Before you start, choose 5-7 Bible verses in which God promises you something. Ask a parent to help.

You will need:

  • Scissors
  • Markers
  • Cotton Balls
  • String
  • Hole Punch
  • Glue
  • White paper or cardboard
  • 5-7 promises from the Bible
  1. Make a rainbow on white paper or cardboard. Cut it out.
  2. Write the promises from the Bible on paper. Cut the promises into cloud shapes.
  3. Punch a hole in each end of the rainbow and at the top of each cloud shape.
  4. Tie a string to each end of the rainbow. String on the cloud shapes. Tie a knot to secure.
  5. Glue cotton balls at each end of the rainbow to cover holes.
