Here and There, But Not Everywhere

As the weather warms there are opportunities to work outside the office walls and to see more of our readers and customers.

Most of the year our staff works here at 7408 Penn Avenue, but as the weather warms there are opportunities to work outside the office walls and to see more of our readers and customers.

In April we had a first. Five of us carpooled to the Evangelical Press Association convention in Lancaster, Pa., for training and networking among other Christian magazine staffs. There were workshops on writing, editing, design, technology, and current issues. And there were extras like a visit to a “retro” printing operation that uses presses like a mini-Gutenberg.

This time of year, one or two of us will be wearing another hat, as it were: sitting behind the Crown & Covenant book table at a conference or meeting, including the RP Seminary’s recent conference on sexuality, or the upcoming RP International Conference. We’ve been given a great storefront once again (photo below) in the middle of the mall-like student center at Indiana Wesleyan. We hope many of you will stop by during the conference and introduce yourselves.

If you’re still deciding whether to attend the conference, we highly recommend it. It is the best way to find out more about the RP Church in a week’s time, and there has been an amazing amount of news and change in the four years since the last conference.

If you go, we hope you’ll join us at one of three workshops we are sponsoring during the conference. There will be a “Meet the Authors” workshop with some of your favorite RP authors. For those of you who have thought about writing an article for the Witness or even writing a book, come to the workshop “How to Write for Publication.” And then we’re featuring a video that will be shown exclusively for the conference, with Dr. Rosaria Butterfield answering questions specifically for an RP audience. We look forward to seeing many of you this summer.
