National Day of Prayer
Members of the campus and community gathered in Geneva College’s Alexander Hall on May 5 for the Beaver Falls Prayer Breakfast. The event was held in observance of the 60th annual National Day of Prayer and marked the 18th prayer breakfast hosted on Geneva’s campus.
Keynote speaker Rev. Bruce Backensto, pastor of the First RPC of Beaver Falls, Pa., spoke on the 2011 National Day of Prayer theme, “A Mighty Fortress is Our God.” During his address, Pastor Backensto paralleled text from the Pledge of Allegiance, “One nation under God,” and the United States’ motto, “In God We Trust,” with Psalm 91:1-2, “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
