Broomall, Pa., RPC

William J. Edgar, pastor

The Broomall congregation recently enjoyed its first congregational retreat at White Lake Covenanter Camp. Co-hosted by Elkins Park RPC, the “Camp Meeting” also included members from the Hazleton congregation and former member and friends of Broomall.

Seven of the pastors and preachers present delivered talks on the theme of encouragement in the daily morning meeting. Afternoons were spent in sports and recreation. An amusing game of Bible Jeopardy with sword drills and Bible trivia was played Saturday evening. At the end of each day there was singing and a campfire story about the history of the Covenanters.

On Lord’s Day morning, the meeting’s attendees packed the pews of White Lake RPC in a combined worship service. Later that evening, there were two dramatizations of the book of Ruth, performed by the children and written by the Broomall high school students. The plays were followed by an outdoor psalm sing.

Steve Rockhill, pastor

The St. Lawrence–Atlantic Presbyterial at Montrose, Pa., Apr. 21-23, was attended by four ladies and one child from the congregation.

Pastor Steve Rockhill has begun a children’s story hour at the Lisbon Library twice each month.

Vacation Bible school was held at the church June 27-30 and was co-hosted by the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Fifty-five children attended nightly for the missionary speakers and theme of “Shining Lights.”

Bruce Backensto and Keith Black, pastors

The sound of psalm-singing filled the rafters on the first Sunday the newly merged Geneva RPC met in the Patterson Township building.

The service was held on July 31. The pews had been moved a week before, and members of the church had worked on moving and cleaning all week in preparation for the service.

Two weeks prior to the move, five Theological Foundations for Youth students, who were visiting the church from the RP Seminary, passed out over 1,000 flyers to people in the neighborhood, informing them of the move back to the Patterson Township location.

A fellowship meal was held after the service to celebrate the move.

On Aug. 14, seven covenant children joined the church: Keith Backensto, Jacob Martin, Lauren Martin, Bonnie Lathom, Alex Lathom, Avery Shirey, and Clayton Shirey.
