Sharon (Morning Sun, Iowa) RPC

Ronald Good, pastor

The congregation has been benefitting from the teachings of Pastor Ronald Good focusing on Romans. Pastor Charles Brown from Westminster (Prairie View, Ill.) RPC assisted with the fall communion. Regional home missionary Robert McFarland spoke to the congregation about outreach and new congregations within the RPCNA. Dr. Robert LaMay graciously fills in when Pastor Good is away.

Sharon RPC welcomed five communicant members last September. They are Jordan Hutcheson, Samantha McElhinney, Emily Pilling, Molly Pilling, and Noah Robb.

The Sabbath Evening Bible Club continues to minister to local children. The dedicated teachers, Virginia Johnson, Chris Robb, and Marie Woodrow, have many years of combined experience. Another children’s outreach, vacation Bible school, was successful again this year as children from surrounding communities attended. Teachers were Brenda Newcomb, Chris Robb, Marie Woodrow, Sandy McElhinney, Terri Hutcheson, and Ron Good. The coordinator was Virginia Johnson.

An adult Bible study, hosted by John and Roselea Smith, met on Tuesday evenings throughout the year. They studied the book of Colossians.

The congregation enjoyed a dinner in May in recognition of four graduates. Marshall McElhinney and Daniel Pilling graduated from high school, and Joel Weyrich and Mike McElhinney graduated from college.

Robert McElhinney and Maurice McDonald were selected to again serve as deacons. They were installed in May.

Marshall McElhinney recently returned from a June mission trip to Biloxi, Miss., where he helped in the continuing cleanup effort following Hurricane Katrina.

The congregation will meet with the Washington, Iowa, RPC once a month for a series of summer psalm sings.

Faithful members Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McDonald recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Syracuse, N.Y., RPC

Andrew Schep, pastor

Pastor Schep has been preaching on a variety of subjects during the summer months. A study of Matthew will continue this month.

Several other congregations in Central New York joined Syracuse in its first congregational retreat. The retreat was held at Vanderkamp Retreat Center in Cleveland, N.Y., with Pastor Kit Swartz as the speaker. The second annual church picnic was held at Clark Reservation State Park in Jamesville.

The following couples recently became engaged: James Bulow and Esther Dart; Matthew Keeley and Becky Julian; Nick Sterling and Joanna Bulow; Steve Waldron and Amanda McFeeters; and Matthew Wright and Christine Rounds.

Since the last report, covenant children Joshua Donath, Kelley Evertz, and Ruth Robles made professions of faith and became communicant members of the church. At the same time, Paul and Corinne Thompson became communicant members through transfer of membership.

Jenny Evertz spent three weeks in Nantes, France, as a member of a short-term missions team. Daniel Wright was in Uganda for six weeks with another team.

Fulton, N.Y., RPC

Nick Iamaio, pastor

The Fulton congregation held its first “Sudanese” lunch on May 28 following the worship hour. They gave thanks to God for His work in Sudan through the ministries of Cush4Christ, Vince and Julie Ward, and Heather Huizing. The members prepared a variety of Sudanese dishes; recipes were obtained from the Internet. Whether the food tasted authentic, it was not possible to say as none of the members had ever tasted Sudanese food. Lemon was a common ingredient in many of the dishes.

More than 100 photographs, which were sent from the Wards and Huizing via the Internet, were displayed on a table. The photos depicted the various activities the team has been engaged in on a daily basis, as well as the progress being made in the construction of their homes, and were greatly enjoyed by the Fulton brethren.

The church continues to pray for all those involved in the ministry of the gospel of God’s grace in Africa.
