Sometimes God calls us to do things we never imagined we would do. He doesn’t call us on the phone, but calls from our hearts. He calls some boys to be pastors, and he calls some other boys and girls to be missionaries. A missionary is someone who brings the gospel of Jesus Christ to people who have never heard it. Some missionaries work where they live, but some missionaries go to different countries to bring the Word of God to the people.
The Reformed Presbyterian Church has missionaries in many countries, but the most recent new work is in a country in Africa called Sudan. Vince and Julie Ward heard God calling them to Sudan, and with the help of our Foreign Mission Board and with much planning, they went to Sudan with their son, Samuel, and Heather Huizing, who had also been called by God to go to Sudan. They have returned to North America, but plan to return to Africa soon to live.
In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus tells us to take the gospel to the world: “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’”
Can you pray for the Wards and Heather Huizing and the work in Sudan? Can you pray to find out what God is calling you to do?
