History

Springs Reformed Church (RPCNA)was started as a church planting effort of the Westminster RPC in Denver, Colo., in 1980. It was known originally as Colorado Springs Reformed Presbyterian Fellowship. That year the commission overseeing the church plant called Bruce Backensto to be the church’s first pastor.

Meetings for the first three years were held in the home of Bob and Ruth Mann, and then moved to a remodeled five-car garage on the property of Bob Wager, one of the founding church members. This converted garage served as the church’s meeting place for about 10 years and was able to seat around 50 people. In 1986, Pastor Paul McCracken was called to fill the pulpit. In 1992, the present church building at 229 S. Weber was purchased and remodeled to accommodate about 120 people. In 2004, Pastor McCracken retired from his duties, and David Reese was ordained and installed as pastor. A recent remodeling project on the church building has enlarged it to accommodate around 250 people.
