David Patterson

Funeral services for David Patterson, 76, of Clarinda, Iowa, who entered into peace Wed., Jan., 30, 2013, at Research Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., were held on Feb. 2 at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda. Rev. Jack Baumgardner and Rev. John Tweed officiated. Burial was in the Elmwood Gardens Cemetery, Morning Sun, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Clarinda, Iowa, RPC.

     David was born in Eskridge, Kan., on Dec, 22, 1936, to James Renwick Patterson and Corinne (Kerr) Patterson. David attended grade school in Los Angeles, Calif., and junior and senior high school in Pittsburgh, Pa. He graduated from Geneva College in 1959 with a bachelor of arts degree in biblical literature, religious education, and philosophy. In 1962, he graduated from the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary. On Apr. 17, 1959, David married Patricia Jean Willson.

David was a lifelong member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America. He pastored congregations in Clay Center (Hebron), Kan.; Winchester, Kan.; and Clarinda, Iowa. He was a supply preacher in Olathe, Kan., and Braddyville Christian Church in Braddyville, Iowa. For 14 years he operated the Patterson Press, printing various publications associated with the RPC including the Covenanter Witness, Christian Statesman, Blue Banner Faith and Life, Christan Patriot, and Minutes of Synod. David also served as deacon for the Clarinda RPC for many years. ...
